Directors and Their Common Practices in Mystery
Alfred Hitchcock: Hitchcock started his career in silent films, but eventually started to work on thriller and suspense genre based films. He is also know as the "Master of Suspense".Common practices are the use of suspense, tension building techniques, and elements that affect the viewer's psychology to keep them on edge. He is also recognized by using cameos and small details a lot.
David Fincher: Fincher is known for his darker and atmospheric storytelling, as well as visual style and attention to detail. Fincher also likes to use psychological elements and presents very intricate plots to provide a visual story. Some of his films like 'Se7en', show his use of suspenseful narratives and cinematography.
Christopher Nolan: Nolan is known for his intricate narrative structure, non-linear plots, and intellectual contributions to cinema. He often uses non-linear storytelling narratives, complex plots and challenges to make the viewer try to figure out the culprit. He also uses time and perception a lot to confuse the viewer.
Knowing how directors that have created media in the mystery genre, will help me create my own plot, that will effectively entertain the viewer.
