 Exploring the Future of the Murder mystery Genre

Although Murder Mystery didn't grow in popularity until the 1920's, they were still around and have slowly changed and evolved over time. New trends have and will continue to reshape storytelling conventions and change audience expectations.

Example of how classic elements are being combined with modern ideology and tastes.

Diversity:

One of the biggest recent trends is the rise of diverse perspectives and voices for minority groups. As the demand for representation in media, creators are exploring narratives that include a range of different cultural backgrounds, identities, and experiences. This representation offers new and fresh insight into crime and plots, this allows more people to be attracted to the genre so they can relate to the different perspectives and enriches the audience all around for the new plot types.

Hybrid Narratives:

Hybrid narratives are the combination of elements from two or more genres to create a new narrative form. This trend of converging genres offers the audience with both new content that creators can explore, as well as a familiarity to the original genre. Creators are able to give audiences narrative juxtaposition and new plot devices.

Classic Elements, Modern taste:

Another trend is elements from classic detective fiction combined with modern tastes or elements. It involves revisiting older tropes and plot techniques and incorporating present-day elements, characters, and perspectives. Creators often draw inspiration from iconic detectives such as Sherlock Holmes and Miss Marple and produce new protagonists with their own investigative styles.

Knowing new trends in the genre is important for me to create a story plot that could stay relevant with the new tastes people have while still maintaining the nostalgic feel of characters and plots.
